Lawrence J. Hogan, Jr. is the founder, President and CEO of the Hogan Companies. He has been in the real estate business since 1982, and founded the Hogan Companies in 1985. He has been responsible for more than two billion dollars in real estate transactions. Hogan has provided real estate services for such groups as the American Red Cross, American University, the General Services Administration, the Resolution Trust Corporation and the Nature Conservancy as well as hundreds of the top national, regional and local developers, builders, lenders, investors and other companies. Over 25 years, he has been involved in some of the most exciting real estate projects throughout the region.
For many years, Hogan has been active in the National Association of Homebuilders, the National Association of Realtors and numerous other national, regional and local business and community organizations. He previously served on the Board of Directors for the Building Industry Association, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Homebuilders Care Foundation.
In addition to his considerable accomplishments in business, Mr. Hogan also has a decade of public service experience at the federal, state, and local level. Most recently he served a four year term in the State Cabinet, as Maryland's Secretary of Appointments. As Appointments Secretary, he was responsible for the appointment of nearly seven thousand people to positions in Maryland's Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches including the appointment of members of the cabinet, judges, legislators, regulators, and administrators throughout State Government. Secretary Hogan's appointments were credited with making the Ehrlich-Steele Administration the most bipartisan, most inclusive, and most diverse administration in Maryland history.
Hogan previously held positions working for Prince George's County, Maryland and for the U.S. House of Representatives. He represented Maryland at five Republican National Conventions. In his last political campaign, Hogan was the Republican Nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives in Maryland's 5th Congressional District and nearly defeated Maryland’s most powerful Democrat, winning Anne Arundel, Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s Counties. In 2010, Hogan conducted a highly visible and well regarded exploratory effort and was considered a leading potential contender for Governor of Maryland.
A graduate of Florida State University, Mr. Hogan lives in Annapolis with his wife Yumi, an artist and vocalist. They have three daughters and are active in many volunteer civic and charitable organizations.
